How to use a Steel Fence Post Brackets

Should you opt for a steel fence, there are a few bracket options at your disposal. The most ubiquitous option is the steel fence post bracket, designed to bear the brunt of the fencing’s weight during installation. Less common is its wooden counterpart, but it remains an option should it suit your needs better.

Out of all the fencing brackets available, the steel post option is the clear winner due to its durability and strength. Although it may come with an increased cost, this particular bracket guarantees a reliable outcome that will outlast many other varieties. But if you do decide on going with this type of bracket, it is paramount to ensure that the hole into which the post will be inserted is of appropriate size. The ideal situation is when the circumference of the hole is slightly broader than that of the post itself; this will make sure that once the post has been snuggly placed in the ground, it won’t be too compressed.

Once the hole has been properly excavated, it’s time to slide the post into the opening. Gently ease the post below the earthline, about halfway down the opening. Afterwards, align the holes of the bracket with those on the post before firmly affixing it.

With the bracket mounted, the following step is to attach it solidly to the post. To accomplish this, nails or screws go into the bracket holes and into the post material. When executing this phase, ensure that the nails or screws are placed straight so they do not cause harm to the post.

Upon connecting the bracket to the post, the fenc panels must be put into position so that their holes seamlessly align with the slots in the bracket. At this point, nails or screws can be driven across the panels and into the bracket to secure them in place. This final step completes the assembly of the fence.

Once the fence is erected, the penultimate measure is to hang the gate. It must be mounted on the fence so that the hinges are affixed upon its exterior. Ideally, the gateway should be secured firmly to the barrier through nails or screws.
